Well, today's outing at the wrestling academy was a total fail. You might recall me having a Monochrom loaner to test, and this was the place to really put it through its paces. You know, high ISO capability would allow me to stop down and even increase the shutter speed a bit. But unbeknownst to me, they put in some new (not really great) LED lights around the ring, which have a frequency that does not vibe with the Leica at all. (I should add that my M10-P had the exact same issue here, so this is not a Monochrom issue.) I tried various shutter speeds; none above 1/125s were in sync – which is not nearly enough to freeze any action going on in the ring. Huge bummer. For the above image, I was also at fault, missing focus a bit (plus the movement, of course), but I still kinda like it more than most other (few) images I managed to get. BTW, the second image shows what's happening when I tried the electronic shutter. 🙈
