Hi, I am Florian and this is my photo blog.
It has been ongoing since August 2016 and I announced its launch on my other website.
The premise is pretty much the same as it was back then: Post every day, mostly black and white (since this is what I love photographing the most) – all in order to get me out of the house to make more images.
In hindsight I think it was actually pretty successful in those terms. I've been practicing seeing and anticipating almost daily for over ten years and I am now keenly aware of light and shadow and lines and reflections, not only when I am in photography mode. I am still carrying my camera pretty much everywhere, even if it is just a quick grocery run. I feel kinda naked without it, to be honest.
Finding dedicated photography time is a challenge for me most days, between family life with two kids and work and everything else that needs attention, hence the always carrying mantra. Days where I get my shot in early are my favorites.
It has taken a couple of years to actually get into the groove of really shooting and especially posting daily. I finished two 365/366 challenges and am currently on a 625+ day streak. (You can find all of those numbers on the stats page.)
Photography is my greatest passion. It is my creative outlet and most of all a means to observe and understand the world around me. It is kinda hard to explain really, so I won't try.
This blog is not my portfolio and certainly not what I would consider my best work. I see it more as a (visual) diary. Since I have been doing it for over 10 years I often use it to check what I was doing on a particular day back in [insert date here].
The goal or the final output of my photographic endeavors is always the printed image, in most cases in the form of a book or a zine. You can find a collection of these projects here (although that page should be updated soon). I also send out a newsletter, whenever such a print product is in the making.
