A friend recently gave me a draft of her new photo book. I met her during a photography workshop and the images I have seen from her always resonated with me. In this book however, she used some images in a style, I did not expect. At first it threw me off, but the more I looked through the book, my feelings towards those images changed. And I realized something about my own photography, which has always been very matter of fact – at least in my mind. Sure, I try to find an interesting perspective, make an interesting composition, but there is usually a very clear subject and some self-imposed standard of technical quality for my own images. Which now, after looking through her book, and seeing her make some – for me – unexpected choices, feels very limiting. And as such, your book has already extended the horizon for my own photography. Thanks for that, Anna!
