Example of a bad photograph: I really do not like how I composed this image. The situation itself is great: A man feeding a gray heron, while reading his newspaper! But the photo is way too busy for my taste. It is also very hard to see certain elements, eg. the pigeons on the bench next to the guy. The background is a total mess. The heron is too close to the grate and the tree, there is no good separation. I definitely should have taken more time to properly compose this. If I had the chance to re-shoot this image, I would probably move to the right (onto the bicycle path – very dangerous here in Amsterdam!), to get rid of the bikes, the houses, the cars and the tree and maybe try to get the colorful container as a backdrop for the heron. The heron and the man would also be closer together. Then again, the guy would have probably noticed me taking the picture, which I still find very awkward. I guess we'll never know…
